Copy and pasted from Twitter b/c I’m lazy:

I’m really confused about their intentions with Blue Mage here. Since you can’t use it for any meaningful progression, what motivation as a player is there for me to be one? It seems more like a side activity than an actual job itself.

It’ll be fun to break instances with enemy abilities for a while but I think the fun will run out quick. Then all that’ll be left is a job you can’t do much with.

I actually thought this was their experiment to see how a hybrid class would work; BLU would learn different abilities to fulfill their chosen role, so when the expansion drops we could technically have two tanks and healers instead of potentially one each.

I’m assuming you can 70 it before 5.0. I’d hope

For me it’s less about the level cap but more about how pointless the Job feels.

You can’t queue for:

  • The Duty Finder
  • Any Roulettes
  • PvP
  • Deep Dungeons

They’re developing solo instances for it and it’s supposed to be a strong solo job, which is weird to have in an MMO. Like what reason do I have to level a BLU if I can’t use it for progression, I can’t play with friends unless they’re special circumstances…I speak mostly as a person that uses the Duty Finder to get things done, so my perception might be colored by that, but for someone like me I just don’t see what I’ll get out of it.

I really want to like it and will still play it anyways because I love BLU if I’m being perfectly honest but it’s hard to be excited for it because, what am I supposed to  do with it once I get to cap?
