I dream of a day when the healer discourse over DPS will finally end because people realise that maybe they should just bring their own fuckin’ healer to DF if they expect a healer to behave exactly the way they want.

Seconding this. It’s not a requirement. Is it necessary when you do endgame raiding content? Almost definitely, to push more raid damage especially when a tier is new, and DPS are barely geared. But it’s a nice bonus in duty finder. You know, that place where you encounter all types of players. And you voluntarily signed up for that random element.

Yeah, it’s a bummer when they don’t DPS, and on a personal level I prefer healers who do (And I do *try* when I SCH for expert roulettes)– but it’s not the end of the world if you miss out on maybe a few minutes at worst.

I’ve always said this but, don’t force the same expectations in raiding as you do for duties. If things are going fine, and people aren’t on fire and dying (not counting a tank possibly overpulling without checking with the healer), then your healer is fine.

If you really want things to go faster, then pull your own weight as much as you can. Or bring your friends.

(At the same time, for healers: I hope they do at least try. A tiny bit of DPS is better than none at all, if the player can afford time to do it. Always strive for doing more, but do it at your pace of learning and comfort, and never at the expense of your own fun.)

This.

With your raid groups?  Sure, absolutely make healer DPS a requirement.  That’s your raid group.

Duty Finder Roulettes?  It’s a fucking dungeon.  It’s casual content where you knowingly signed up for the fact you’ll get some completely random person of varying levels of skill.  They might be an elite raid healer decked out in all the best gear or they might be some newb healer in shit-gear who hasn’t played FFXIV in ages, just came back, and is nervous as hell about healing a dungeon group for the first time in months.

UNCLENCH YOUR ASSHOLE and BYOH.

I’d also like to add that Yoshi-P has even said that in high-end raids that healer DPS isn’t factored into the fight. So the only time you need it in high-end stuff is if your trying to push for fast clears. If you are going to raid, you no doubt have a main class which by the time a new raid tier comes out with a patch, you are already in the DoS for the previous tier, which is what is required to clear the content.

As a healer main myself, I often wait to see how big the tank pulls and how much damage they (and the party) take. If they can hold aggro and not take a lot of damage, I will DPS, if they aren’t holding hate and their health is dropping, you won’t see me DPS; I might add an Aero III or II DoT at most in those situations. You also won’t see me DPS if you are a total douche-canoe to me – if you are rude and horrible, I will downright refuse to DPS out of spite to you. If you continue to be a douche-nozzle, I will then play the how low can you go game with your health pool. If you enter downright cunt level of rudeness, I will refuse to heal your arse. Is this petty/salty? Possibly, but respect is a two-way thing, show me kindness and respect and I will do the same.

Also – to people who like to tank. I know it’s not necessary, but ASK your healers if they want to heal a big pull, or at least warn them and wait for their response. Not every healer is as comfortable/experienced with them and in my experience, yes, I can heal a big pull, but I can heal a big pull much better (and possibly help with some DPS) if you give me a heads-up first.

Bust commission for @nhara-tia

Thank you very much!♥

dantinmikannes:

A huge thanks to @kulain for commissioning me to draw their gorgeous Qalli and her Qalli lover Sandji! This is my first time so much as seeing an original Qalli character (the sing songy tribe of the steppe) and I always thought their concept was amazing, so thank you for introducing your own to me!

Information on the glamour update!

This is so cool.

I will wait with my judgement when it is live. But, I am not optimistic right now. I have played multiple games where a change to the current glamour system not only disappointed me but made it worse, at least for me personally.

Just to add, I think they said that this isn’t replacing the old system, but augmenting it.

Did some sketches and then colored them of Dadcatte towards the end of last year; reflecting some IC feels and giving me practice bc what are faces and expressions? I did a few touch ups today, and bam time to share this scribbled mess. 😀
