Balmung, sometimes you astound me.

And I mean that in the absolute best way possible.

I’ve made no secret of wanting to find a bigger space for the Ashen Enclave.   We started off during the housing rush of 3.4 with our first, cozy little home in the Goblet.  It was cute, and it served our needs for the time, but this time last year, when the opportunity presented itself for us to upgrade to a medium plot, we pounced on it.

A lot of love went into our little home in Ward 7 – where we were able to regroup as an FC, expand, and come together to finally start hosting some of the events we had wanted to since I had taken over the FC last summer.(which in no small part started when we worked with the Bellworks @dufresne-bellworks on their Tournament)

Our Open Clinic nights have been a fantastic success. We’re delighted, every other week, to get to RP with folks – to be even a little part of their character’s lives and stories, and in turn be part of our own.  I’m proud of this little FC – of it’s members, and the lasting friendships I have made because of it – and this server.

Our bi-weekly events also quickly made us realize that our medium wasn’t going to be big enough for all of the events we have wanted to hold as a group forever.  We started putting feelers out – but realized that unless more wards were added and quickly, we’d never see a bigger spot.  Shirogane seemed promising but problematic – we happen to love the Goblet and are even ICly located there (and hoped we’d be able to trade with someone later on if we snagged a mansion there) – so we saved and saved, and even had help from friends… and like so many, were locked out.

With 4.2 on the horizon and unnamed housing changes coming, we thought this would be our next  best shot.

Then today happened.

I got a ping in a Discord server I am in, from the absolutely fantastic  @divinedhalmel – who has not only RPed and mapped with us a bunch, but knew we were looking for a new place.

We got one.

They got us in touch with @darkestaftermidnight , who not only helped us monetarily and squeak in the last bit of gil for the purchase price, but in turn knew someone who was looking to move to Mateus, and was willing to help us out fairly.

I‘m overwhelmed, even an hour later, after writing this. We reached our goal. We have the home we have wanted for so long in order to hold more events, and better facilitate RP for ourselves and for our community.

The Matron’s Reach Clinic has taken the place of the Ashen Clinic in Ward 7. I was completely delighted to work with Maril ( @meandering-mind ) and her folks to ensure that a group as dedicated to RP in our community as they are, and we strive to be, has their own bigger space to work. (And we can’t wait to collaborate more with you guys) – And I know that the Artifice of Reason ( @artificeofreason ) will be as fantastic a group of neighbors to you guys, as they were to us.

PHEW.

I’d also like to thank, in no small part, to @giroux-s , @rose-in-the-stone & @heavens-light-and-hells-ice for helping us, for providing support, and for being great friends.

WE DID IT.   And we couldn’t have done it alone.  So thank you, Balmung. You just totally made Starlight for a bunch of trying-to-do-good folks. ❤ (no srsly I am getting teary-eyed again.)
